Mimi in Fluxus
Mimi gets the inside scoop from a fellow mannequin at Fluxus. This is a relatively new line of clothing, designed by Martin Paquette and made in Los Angeles. I could have bought more than the two pieces Mimi is modeling since I loved everything in the store, but my two shopping buddies and I were in Santa Monica for our bi-annual shopping spree and we had only just begun.
Fluxus has two stores in the L.A. area: one at Santa Monica Place and the other at Larchmont Village. These are feel-good, no fuss clothes. "Fluxus" is Latin meaning "to flow", and they do exactly that. I love minimalist clothing (and Mimi tolerates it.) The clothes can be worn a myriad of ways with different accessories. I plan on buying a pair of coral sandals to give them some color.
We shopped the Promenade and Main Street before heading over to Montana Avenue. I didn't find anything I liked as much as the Fluxus clothes UNTIL I walked into a store where I saw a pair of Dries Van Noten pants and a dress that I would have happily traded my entire wardrobe for. My shopping buddies wisely took me by the hand and led me out of there before I did something really stupid.
Ah, the shops on Montana Avenue. I will return to take another look (when I win the lottery).
Another day.
Another post.
