The Most Beautiful Places on Earth
I love diving among coral reefs (I mean, really, who doesn't?) but this particular dive in the Red Sea boasted a 200 ft. wall of coral with thousands of fish, both rare and abundant. The dive site was off the coast of Saudi Arabia near Yanbu. It stands out among all the diving I've done because of the crystal clear water. Visibility seemed endless. Not only that, but it was a warm and sunny day. Lying on the beach between dives was pure bliss, as well.
I did something you're not supposed to do when diving--I sucked my tanks dry! And then I went in again to snorkel. So this is why Under the Red Sea makes it to my Most Beautiful Places on Earth list. We did not leave until the sun set below the horizon and we could no longer see. This time even my travel buddy left kicking and screaming. "Can we go back?" he begs every year. "Please, please." After posting these photos from our trip this morning, it was me who echoed that sentiment. "Just say when," he said.
