Sequoia National Park - The Oldest National Park in California

Sequoia National Park is a national park in the southern Sierra Nevada of California, in the United States. It is the oldest national park in California. It is one of California's most spectacular treasures. Sequoia National Park is home to some of the biggest trees and some of the great canyons on the planet.

Established in 1890, the Sequoia National Park spans 404,063 acres (1,635 square kilometers). It is home to some of the tallest and biggest trees. There are extremely rugged and deep canyons. The park also contains the highest point in the contiguous 48 United States - Mount Whitney. It has a height of 14,505 feet (4,421 meters) above sea level.

Sequoia National Park is mainly famous for its range of sequoia trees. Here, you'll find the largest tree on the planet as Sierra Nevada is the only place in the world where the giant sequoias naturally grow. The General Sherman Tree is the largest known tree on earth. It measured nearly 275 feet (84 meters) tall and more than 100 feet (30 meters) around. Sequoia National Park is also home to the General Grant Tree - the world’s third largest tree.

The grandeur of the giant sequoia trees, soaring mountain peaks, cascading creeks and serene vistas offer a truly memorable National Park experience. There you'll find hundreds of marble caves and caverns, many teeming with rare plants and animals.
