Flying Over Greenland

Those eleven hour flights from Europe can be torture, but this time we had clear skies and I made friends with a small group of fellow geo-junkies.  We met at the back of the 747, gawking at the Greenland mountains, glaciers and ice floes below us.  We met again over the Hudson Bay and the Rocky Mountains.  My traveling buddy commented, "You know, this is the best way to see Greenland," and at the time I agreed.  Until this morning, that is.   I googled a Greenland tourist site and found out there's a lot more to this island wonderland than ice and snow.  They have the best preserved Norse ruins anywhere in the world.  That clinched it.  I'm going!
But not in October!
