When my traveling buddy says, "I wonder where this road goes?" I know I'm in for an adventure. Driving home from Avila Beach we saw a street sign that read "Cave Landing Road." It was just too tantalizing to ignore. The road is off Avila Beach Drive and winds around a steep hill. There is a parking lot at the top and a trail that branches into two directions. One path leads down to a beach and the other to Whale Cave. We spent an hour up here admiring the incredible view!
