Carpinteria Bluffs

Bravo to the community of Carpinteria for saving this beautiful strip of the California coastline from a cookie cutter housing development.  As the sign at the trail head reads, "Welcome.  Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Reserve.  The Land is protected forever.  The City of Carpinteria, the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County and the Citizens for the Carpinteria Bluffs created a conservation easement to ensure that this land's scenic, recreational, open space and wildlife values will always be retained."

Now everyone can enjoy the incredible Pacific Ocean views from these bluffs, and believe me, last Saturday evening everyone and his uncle were there!  We rolled into the parking lot around 4:30 pm and got the last space.  We hiked along the trails until we found a secluded spot to watch the sunset.  Another couple showed up and were slightly annoyed.  (I think we took their spot.)  But Mimi has a way of charming the pants off people.  "Cute outfit," the woman said, and then urged her husband to move on.
