The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 3000 individual reefs and coral cays and literally hundreds of picturesque tropical islands. The reef has over 400 types of coral, 1500 species of fish and 4000 types of mollusc. It stretches for over 2600 kilometers over an area of approximately 344400 square kilometers.



The Great Barrier Reef is one of Australia's most remarkable natural gifts. It is larger than the Great Wall of China and the only living thing on earth visible from space. It is one of the most remarkable natural wonders of the world.



The reef is located in the Coral Sea, on the north-east coast of Australia. It is a very popular destination for tourists, especially in the Whitsunday Islands and Cairns regions. The Great Barrier Reef is blessed with the breathtaking natural beauty.
