Poinsettias and a Velvet Jacket
Although Mimi and I have concluded we can wear velvet year round, wearing this cranberry velvet jacket is a holiday tradition, as is buying a poinsettia. These beautiful flowers brighten up a time of year that has become increasingly difficult to enjoy. One of these days I'm going to boycott Christmas and head for the mountains until the madness is all over. (Taking my velvet jacket and poinsettias with me!)
Poinsettias are native to Central America where they flower during the winter months. These beautiful flowers were first brought to the United States by Joel Poinsett, the first U.S. ambassador to Mexico.
